National Campaign Launched to Combat AIDS and STDs

The CAFA Development Organization, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has launched a comprehensive national campaign aimed at combating AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) through awareness, prevention, and improved access to reproductive health services.

Targeting Vulnerable Groups and Providing Essential Health Services

The campaign focused on vulnerable populations, particularly those living in shelters, and provided them with critical services such as health education, voluntary counseling, testing, and treatment, while ensuring gender equity in healthcare provision.

Priority on HIV Testing and Early Detection

HIV testing was a cornerstone of the campaign, enabling early detection and timely treatment to reduce the risk of transmission. The campaign also offered reproductive health education, including safe sex practices and prevention of STIs.

Raising Awareness and Reducing Stigma

Workshops, seminars, and outreach programs were conducted in shelters and communities to raise awareness about the risks of unprotected sex, the importance of regular medical checkups, and reducing the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and other STDs. Health professionals and volunteers played a key role in delivering accurate information and emotional support.

Local and International Cooperation to Tackle Health Crises

The initiative underscored the value of cooperation between local organizations and international partners as an effective model that can be replicated in other regions facing similar public health challenges.

Toward a More Informed and Healthier Society

The campaign aims to reduce the spread of HIV and STDs and to foster a healthier society built on awareness, openness, and support. Future efforts will focus on expanding outreach and improving healthcare services to eliminate the threat of preventable diseases
