Community Awareness & Leadership Engagement in Rahad and Um Rawaba

Introduction to the Cash Assistance Project

The Community Awareness and Leadership Engagement activities were implemented as part of the Cash Assistance Project under the Cash Consortium for Sudan (CCS), in partnership with Mercy Corps and funded by ECHO & FCDO.
The activities took place in Rahad and Um Rawaba from October 6 to 13, 2025.
They targeted community leaders, representatives from local institutions, and residents.

Objectives of the Activities

The activities aimed to introduce the Cash Assistance Program clearly and directly.
The objectives of the project, the target groups, and the implementation approach were explained.
Additionally, the sessions highlighted the Community Accountability Mechanism, which allows community members to provide feedback, raise questions, and submit complaints.
This mechanism promotes transparency and builds trust between the community and project teams.

Community Participation and Discussion

Field teams provided a simplified explanation of how they will work alongside local communities.
Furthermore, an open discussion session was held, during which participants asked questions about beneficiary selection, registration steps, and follow-up procedures.
These interactions showed strong community Awareness interest and a willingness to support vulnerable households and contribute to the project’s success.

Promoting Transparency and Positive Impact

On the other hand, the activities confirmed the commitment of CCS and Mercy Corps to ensuring community Awareness participation throughout all project phases.

This approach strengthens shared responsibility and improves communication with local communities.
