Workshop Overview
We at CAFA Development Organization – Gedaref, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Development, and with generous support from the Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF) through Save the Children Organization, successfully implemented a Mental Health, Counseling, and Support Services Workshop. The sessions took place in Al-Nader neighborhood, Al-Sadaqa neighborhood, and Al-Sarraf village in Al-Qalabat Al-Gharbiya locality, Gedaref State.
Project Goals
This workshop is part of the “Project to Raise the Capabilities of Women and Girls through Women’s Centres.” Its main goal is to strengthen women’s roles in communities. The project also focuses on improving psychological well-being, resilience, and access to support services.
Workshop Content and Methods
Participants received essential knowledge about mental health, stress management, and psychosocial support techniques. Facilitators shared practical methods to cope with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Moreover, participants learned how to build community-based support networks. This encourages dialogue about mental health and reduces stigma.
Community Engagement
During the workshops, women shared personal experiences and discussed local solutions to promote well-being. In addition, participants were introduced to available counseling and referral services at women’s centres. This ensures ongoing access to guidance and mental health care.
Impact and Future Plans
Through this initiative, CAFA Development Organization reinforces its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups. Furthermore, the workshops empower women and girls to take active, confident roles in community development. Overall, combining education, empowerment, and support contributes to healthier, more resilient communities across Gedaref State.
