Establishing the Women’s Service Center

Within the activities of the “Building the Capacity of Women and Girls through Women’s Centers” project, CAFA Organization for Development – Gedaref worked with the Ministry of Health and Social Development and received support from the Sudan Humanitarian Fund through Save the Children Organization. Together, they built and launched a Women’s Service Center in Al-Baladya locality, Al-Nadher neighborhood.

Empowering Women and Girls

This project empowers women and girls by giving them access to essential social, educational, and health services. The center provides a safe and welcoming space where women develop skills, gain confidence, and engage in community decisions. It strengthens their ability to lead and participate in social change.

Promoting Equality and Inclusion

The project promotes gender equality and inclusion by addressing women’s needs, especially those affected by displacement or poverty. It encourages community participation through local planning and consultations with women leaders and youth groups.

Training and Skill Development

The center offers programs in literacy, leadership, and vocational training. Women learn tailoring, handicrafts, and business management to support income generation. These skills help families improve living conditions and strengthen economic stability across Gedaref State.

Raising Awareness and Collaboration

Regular sessions raise awareness on reproductive health, gender-based violence, and women’s rights. These activities promote knowledge, challenge harmful practices, and encourage respect and protection for women. CAFA also collaborates with local organizations and government institutions to ensure sustainability and long-term community impact.

Conclusion

The new Women’s Service Center represents a major milestone for gender equality in Al-Nadher. It creates opportunities for women to learn, lead, and shape a stronger, more inclusive community.
