CAFA for Development, in collaboration with the State Council for Childhood and the Department of Religious Affairs in Shikan Locality, launched a training workshop for religious leaders on child protection in El-Obeid, attended by the Director of Religious Affairs, Mr. Abdelrahim Abu Al-Bashir.

During the opening session, Mr. Mahmoud Bakri, representing Shikan Locality’s Executive Director, praised CAFA and partners for organizing this valuable workshop, highlighting the crucial role of religious leaders in promoting child protection messages within communities, especially under current exceptional circumstances.

The State Council for Childhood Secretary, Mr. Abdelrahim Abdullah, emphasized the importance of addressing child issues in religious platforms, noting that changing community attitudes requires intensified training and psychosocial support for families.

Mr. Ali Babiker, Director of Religious Affairs in Shikan Locality, stated that the workshop targets 30 religious leaders and will continue for three consecutive days, reflecting the locality’s strong commitment to child protection.

Ms. Naglaa Ezz Al-Arab Yaqoub, CAFA’s North Kordofan Office Director, affirmed that the workshop aligns with CAFA’s programs, praising the active participation of imams, preachers, and Christian leaders in El-Obeid, and stressing the importance of religious leaders in raising community awareness for child safety.
