Karri – Northern Rural (Sheikh Al-Tayeb & Al-Amriya)
From January 27 – 29, 2026, the First Training Workshop for Community Health Volunteers was successfully launched and concluded under the Life-Saving Emergency Assistance Project, implemented by CAFA  Development  Organization with funding from the International Rescue Committee (IRC), in partnership with the Ministry of Health – Khartoum State and the Humanitarian Aid Commission.

The workshop gathered 12 community health volunteers, with the presence of representatives from IRC, the Ministry of Health, and the Commission.
The opening session was led by Ikhlas Abbas, Project Manager, who highlighted the objectives and the importance of health and nutrition. Dr. Aziza Haidar from the Ministry of Health delivered a lecture on nutrition, malnutrition, and prevention methods.

Over three days, the workshop addressed nutrition challenges for the most vulnerable groups – children, elderly people, pregnant women, and patients with chronic diseases – alongside sessions on public health, physical and mental well-being, and hygiene.

On the closing day, IRC representatives including Zeinab, Community Health Manager, Ikhlas, Nutrition Specialist, and Iman, praised CAFA and the project team for their efforts, reaffirming their commitment to community health issues and recognizing CAFA as one of the key national partners. They expressed gratitude to Ikhlas Abbas, Omar Al-Awad, and Dr. Aziza Haidar, as well as the trainees for their dedication to becoming beacons of health in local communities.

In her closing remarks, Ikhlas Abbas emphasized that community health promoters are the backbone of any health system, confirming that such workshops will continue to strengthen health and nutrition in war-affected communities in Sudan.
