Meet Muna and Arafah Suliman, two sisters considered as the most influential women in their community.
In 2017 Muna and Arafah with help of others have succeeded to make an initiative named it (for our country) it is concerned with raising the awareness with the risks of Female Genital Mutilation FGM) and made a protection committee in every neighborhood thats responsible for protecting girls from circumcision by talking to parents and convince them to let her grownups healthy and complete.
All of this was started when they attend a workshop in CAFA development Organization talking about FGM and its risks on female through all stages of her life and they used to reflect all they get with their families and neighbors and invited them to similar workshop at the first they faced objections from many cause its a traditions they grownup with, and day by day the number was increased, many women said “ok we agree but the las word is said by their fathers”, so they found that they should speak to men and trying to convince them with that.
After many days of training and speak they finally nail it and get a huge support from fathers and said that we care about the health of our daughters, then they targeted youth and females in school and comes the idea of initiative.
Since then the ratio of circumcision is noticeably declined and their goals is to make Al-fath clear from that harm habit.
