Training Religious Leaders on child protection

Workshop Launch and Attendance

CAFA Development Organization, in collaboration with the State Council for Childhood and the Department of Religious Affairs in Shikan Locality, organized a child protection training workshop for religious leaders in El-Obeid.
The opening session was attended by Mr. Abdelrahim Abu Al-Bashir, Director of Religious Affairs.

During the event, Mr. Mahmoud Bakri, representing Shikan Locality’s Executive Director, praised CAFA and its partners. He also highlighted the vital role of religious leaders in spreading child protection messages, especially under current conditions.

Importance of Addressing Child Issues

Furthermore, Mr. Abdelrahim Abdullah, Secretary of the State Council for Childhood, stressed the importance of addressing child issues on religious platforms.
He explained that changing community attitudes requires intensive training and psychosocial support for families.

In addition, religious leaders can positively influence families. As a result, they play a key role in protecting children from harm.

Workshop Details and Participation

According to Mr. Ali Babiker, Director of Religious Affairs in Shikan Locality, the workshop targets 30 religious leaders.
It will run for three consecutive days. This reflects the locality’s strong commitment to child protection.

Moreover, the sessions promote active participation and knowledge sharing. Consequently, participants gain practical skills they can apply in their communities.

Alignment with CAFA’s Programs

Finally, Ms. Naglaa Ezz Al-Arab Yaqoub, CAFA’s North Kordofan Office Director, confirmed that the workshop aligns with CAFA’s programs.
She also praised the engagement of imams, preachers, and Christian leaders in El-Obeid.

Additionally, she emphasized the critical role of religious leaders in raising community awareness on child safety. Therefore, their involvement is essential for long-term impact.
