On 21 October 2026, the consortium comprising Relief International (RI), CAFA Development Organization, and the Patient Support Fund held the inception meeting for a multi-sectoral humanitarian response project covering food security and livelihoods, nutrition, non-food items (NFIs), and emergency shelter. The project is supported by the Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF) and was launched at the Conference Hall of the University of Gezira.
The project will be implemented in East Al Jazirah Locality, within the Tamboul Administrative Unit, targeting Sar Al-Kul village, the Buraida complex, and Al-Hadaf area. It aims to address the humanitarian needs of vulnerable households, including displaced families, female- and older-person-headed households, families with persons with disabilities, and households facing heightened protection risks.
Under the consortium’s sectoral responsibilities, International Relief will implement agriculture and livelihoods interventions, the Patient Support Fund will lead nutrition activities, and CAFA Development Organization will deliver non-food item and emergency shelter assistance. CAFA’s interventions will target **1,240 households**: 620 households through non-food item assistance and 620 households through emergency shelter support.
Overall, the project aims to reach **6,200 people**, including women, men, and children, helping address essential needs and strengthen vulnerable households’ capacity to cope with humanitarian challenges.
The inception meeting brought together representatives of the Al Jazirah State Government, the Humanitarian Aid Commission, East Al Jazirah Locality authorities, relevant government departments, representatives of targeted communities, and international and national humanitarian organizations. Discussions covered the project’s objectives, target groups, sectoral interventions, and coordination mechanisms. Government representatives expressed their support and commitment to facilitating implementation in the targeted locality.
