CAFA Development Organization’s Rapid Response to the cholera outbreak in Nablat, West Kordofan, demonstrates the organization’s commitment to protecting vulnerable communities during public health emergencies. Through its West Kordofan Office, CAFA deployed its Rapid Response Team to implement urgent interventions aimed at containing the spread of cholera and safeguarding public health.

Rapid Response Activities for Cholera Prevention

The Rapid Response Team carried out several emergency interventions, including:

• Chlorinating all water sources to ensure access to safe drinking water.

• Closing and filling public latrines in market areas to reduce environmental contamination and limit disease transmission.

• Conducting health awareness sessions to promote cholera prevention measures and proper hygiene practices.

• Implementing environmental sanitation campaigns, including community clean-up activities and the removal of contamination sources.

Objectives of the Cholera Response

The intervention aims to contain the cholera outbreak through immediate public health action. Furthermore, it promotes water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices, reduces health risks, and strengthens community resilience during the emergency.
