Field Assessment | White Nile State

More than 1,000 households rely on two water sources in Guli
CAFA Development Organization, in coordination with the Water Sector (WS), conducted a field assessment of targeted water pumps under the emergency response project aimed at improving water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services for displaced people and host communities in White Nile State.
The assessment covered Guli locality, including Um Buro and Faqa villages, focusing on:

The technical condition of water pumps and components.

Maintenance and rehabilitation needs.

Water availability and actual use.

The number of households and people relying on the water sources.
Preliminary findings identified a clear need for maintenance and rehabilitation, as well as pressure on some water sources due to the increasing number of users.

Um Buro: approximately 520 households

Faqa: approximately 570 households
Nearby communities also rely on the same water sources, further increasing the demand for water.

The assessment also provided an opportunity to engage directly with community members, understand their priorities, and link the technical condition of the water sources with the actual demand for water.

A glimpse into the field assessment, an essential step toward prioritizing maintenance based on actual needs and strengthening the sustainability of water services for affected communities.
