Mine and ERW Risk Education Activities

As part of its community protection efforts, CAFA Development Organization (CAFA), through its North Kordofan Office in El-Obeid, conducted a Mine and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) Risk Education activity.

The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Social Development Sector and supported by UNICEF, in coordination with the National Mine Action Center.

Target Groups and Locations

The activity took place between January 10–13, 2026.
It targeted youth clubs, volunteers, girls’ clubs, and women’s groups across Sheikan, Um Rawaba, and El Rahad localities.

Raising Awareness on Risks

During the sessions, participants were introduced to different types of explosive remnants.
In addition, they learned how to recognize warning signs and identify suspicious objects.

Moreover, the sessions explained safe behaviors to follow when encountering unfamiliar or dangerous items.

Promoting Safe Practices

The training emphasized the importance of avoiding military zones and former conflict areas.
It also highlighted the serious risks of touching, moving, or burning suspicious objects.

As a result, participants gained critical knowledge to protect themselves and their communities.

Strengthening Community Protection

Through this initiative, CAFA continues to enhance community awareness and civilian protection.
In particular, the activity supports women and youth in high-risk areas.

Ultimately, these efforts contribute to building safer and more resilient communities across North Kordofan 🌙💪
