CAFA Awareness Campaigns in Kadugli Schools on GBV, Sexual Exploitation, and Mine Risks

CAFA Development Organization (South Kordofan), in partnership with UNICEF and the Child Care Council, conducted awareness campaigns.

These campaigns aimed to reduce risks of gender-based violence, sexual exploitation, and landmine accidents in schools across Kadugli.

A total of 1,243 students participated, including 653 girls and 590 boys, learning critical safety and protection measures.

The sessions included interactive activities, competitions, quizzes, and prize distributions, engaging students while teaching them practical safety skills.

Reducing Risks of Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Exploitation

Students learned about their rights and safe behaviors, gaining tools to protect themselves from GBV and sexual exploitation.

These sessions encouraged students to seek help safely and promote a respectful, safe culture within their schools and communities.

Education on Landmines and Unexploded Ordnance

Children were trained to recognize landmine and UXO dangers, learning preventive measures and proper reporting procedures to avoid accidents.

This education is critical in South Kordofan, where remnants of conflict remain a serious threat to children and communities.

Community Engagement and Long-Term Impact

Teachers and local stakeholders joined the campaigns to strengthen awareness, ensuring a community-wide approach to child protection and safety.

CAFA’s collaboration with UNICEF Sudan (https://www.unicef.org/sudan) ensures the sustainability and effectiveness of these educational programs.

Through these initiatives, CAFA enhances child protection, education, and safety, equipping children with knowledge to live and learn safely.
